XIX. Sun
Joy, vitality, success, confidence
“I shine with joy, clarity and gratitude
for the light in my life.”
While the Moon talks about mystery and what is hidden, the Sun card brings out warmth and clarity. This clarity is not harsh but liberating, the kind that makes you exhale because the path ahead finally makes sense. It reminds us that joy, vitality and connection are always possible.
A child is holding a large sunflower. It embodies the ability to meet life without pretense. Children don’t overthink joy; they just live it. Exactly what the energy of the Sun is about: not striving or achieving but simply being present. To stand in the light and allow yourself to be seen, just as you are.
Sunflowers naturally turn toward the sun, which reinforces the card's message: point yourself toward what brings life, warmth and nourishment. Ask yourself: "What lights me up? What helps me grow?"
Together, the element of the child and the sunflower encourage authenticity. The child has no need for masks and the flower cannot help but follow the sun. So trust that your genuine self is enough and recognize that true strength comes from being who you are without apology.
It is also a card of celebration. Success, vitality and recognition are often associated with this card. Notice how the child holds the sunflower without needing to prove anything. The Sun points us back to this simple presence. It is the 'life-giver', because without the sun there is no growth possible.
When it comes up on the table, the Sun often acts like a reassurance. It suggests that the heaviness is lifting, that healing or progress is underway. After the darkness and uncertainty of the Moon, the Sun feels like a fresh start of the day. The sense that life is generous and growth is possible.
So, keep in mind the child with the sunflower. Be open, curious, unguarded. Face toward what warms you and let yourself be seen. Remember that, like the sun, joy is a source you can always return to.

Reflections
- What currently brings me the most joy? How can I invite more of it into my daily life?
- What recent success, big or small, deserves to be celebrated?
- When am I holding back from shining fully out of fear of being “too much”? What would happen if I let myself shine anyway?
